Little Beeper is a cartoon character introduced in the Warner Bros. animated television series, Tiny Toon Adventures. He appears often on the show.

Biography

Little Beeper is a 10-year-old young, red/orange, male roadrunner, who wears blue high tops. He speaks mainly in stock sound effects (such as mimicking various musical instruments, sirens and other devices) and usually lets out the sounds of "beep, beep" just like his mentor. He also laughs, yells and whistles, amongst other audible expressions, depending on his mood and situation, which usually involves Calamity, but he never speaks out words.

He attends Acme Looniversity and lives in Acme Acres. His mentor and predecessor is the Road Runner.

Little Beeper's egg was dropped by the stork - landing onto the head of an infant Calamity Coyote and breaking open. Little Beeper jumped out out of Calamity's father's paw and began to run away, and Calamity was put on the ground to chase him - a chase forever yet to conclude. Both lived in the desert until their families moved to Acme Acres.[1]

Given his age, he along with Calamity have likely skipped three or four grades. Outside of School, Little Beeper is often shown merely running around the city or working for companies as a delivery boy, such as Bombino's Pizza and ACME Mail. He also tends to drive company vehicles. His rival does this to a much lesser extent.

Like his mentor, Little Beeper is the target of Calamity Coyote and counters him with speed and tricks. Unlike Road Runner, who has little to no part in his rival's downfall and rarely if ever hurts him beyond saying 'Beep Beep' - at least from the mid 1950s to 1964 - Little Beeper is sometimes willing to torment and outright hurt Calamity Coyote and Wile E. Coyote - notably by running them over with company trucks.

In the Dating, Acme Acres Style episode segment, Love Stinks, Little Beeper ends up looking like a skunk and becomes the romantic target of Fifi La Fume. Poetic justice, perhaps, as when Calamity was in a similar (and smelly) situation, Little Beeper spent the entire ordeal ridiculing him - more than necessary in fact.

In the New Class Day episode segment, Just-Us League of Supertoons, Beeper is a member of the mighty superhero team, the Just-Us League of Supertoons. He is Little Dasher, a parody of Flash.

In Tiny Toons Looniversity, Little Beeper is a college student, though it is unknown what he studies. In this series, he seems to get in a painful situation almost as much as Calamity.

His relationship with Wile E. Coyote may have improved due to him putting out a sign for the latter's garage sale.[2]

Personality

Unlike Road Runner's typical bemusement at Wile E. Coyote's misfortunes, Little Beeper is often shown taking great joy at the sight of Calamity's failures; never passing up a chance to point, laugh at him and rub salt in when he's in a painful situation from trying to kill him. This attitude, however, has backfired on him more than once.

According to Calamity's computer, roadrunners are very vain and cannot resist mirrors, which is proven as Beeper stops on his way delivering pizzas to stare at himself in an ACME mirror that Calamity placed in hopes to grab the pizza.

Little Beeper is shown to grin and have his tongue out regularly - the latter trait later being used for Wakko Warner. Sometimes, he'll frown like the others, but other times, he'll be the only with a grin on his beak.

He is one of the only Acme Looniversity students briefly shown playing with a childish thing - like a fake hopscotch.

Despite their violent rivalry, Little Beeper often hangs out with Calamity and once drove him to the hospital - the closest time the flightless bird did anything nice for the coyote. Other than Calamity, Little Beeper is often seen next to Fifi La Fume and at the end of the series' run; Elmyra Duff. According to official sources, he considers Buster Bunny his best friend.

In the reboot, Little Beeper seem to have no rivalry with Calamity.

Abilities

Little Beeper is a speed demon, a natural athlete, a bolt of lightning in tennis shoes. He is the fastest student at Acme Looniversity. His natural instincts always triumph over Calamity Coyote's cerebral schemes; what's more, his speed and grace make it seem easy...and he knows it. Like any good athlete, Little Beeper watches what he eats; unlike Calamity, who watches what he'd like to eat zoom off into the distance.

Trivia

  • Since 1992, Little Beeper has shared the stock 'Beep Beep' sound used for Road Runner instead of having his own voice.
