The Immature Radioactive Samurai Slugs

The Immature Radioactive Samurai Slugs (or IRSS for short) are minor characters on Tiny Toon Adventures. They are a parody of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Their names are Picasso, Warhol, Rockwell, and Grandma Moses, and their archenemy is the Iodizer, a parody of Shredder. Picasso and Rockwell are voiced by Roger Rose, Warhol is voiced by Jeff Bennett, Grandma Moses is voiced by Rob Paulsen, and The Iodizer is voiced by Jim Cummings.

Appearances

The IRSS first appear in the Mr. Popular's Rules of Cool episode segment, Slugfest as the main focus. Plucky invites Hamton over to his house to watch it with him, and reveals to him that he is the president of the IRSS fan club, with all their latest merchandise. During a commercial break, the Samurai Slug costumes are advertised, but with Plucky and Hamton both without money, they resort to making their own costumes using potato sacks, tightly wrapped headbands, and false teeth. When they try to help Elmyra Duff, who is trying to squish some slugs in her kitchen, she mistakes them for giant slugs and tries to squish them as well. They run away, only to end up in an IRSS stunt show and get mistaken for the real actors. They are unable to remove their costumes because Plucky forgot to put zippers on them. They are chased by the Iodizer all the way to the Great Salt Flats of Utah. The League of Icky Crawly Things try to rescue them, but end up getting squished. Plucky and Hamton hide out in an Elk's Lodge, where the elks have run out of salt lick, and Plucky tells them that the Iodizer is a salt lick. The Elks chase the Iodizer as Plucky makes slug-themed puns. Annoyed, Hamton pours some salt on him, iodizing him. Hamton then replies with "Just say no to slugs!"

The Iodizer

In the direct-to-video movie, Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation, Plucky brings a mint-condition copy of Immature Radioactive Samurai Slugs Comic Issue #1 to pass the time with Hamton's family on their way to HappyWorldLand. Winnie tells Plucky that they don't allow Hamton to read comic books on family trips, not because of cartoon violence concerns, but because reading in the car always makes him carsick. With Plucky unable to contain him, Hamton throws up all over the comic. Later, as Hamton's family pick up Mr. Hitcher, Plucky offers some "slightly moist" reading material to him.

In the Weekday Afternoon Live sketch, Samurai Film Critic, Hamton and Dizzy Devil review parodies of famous movies ala Siskel and Ebert. Dizzy is dressed as a samurai, and throughout the sketch, he disagrees with Hamton on the movies he likes. He demands a movie with teen appeal, threatening to make "Pig Sushi" from Hamton if he fails, so Hamton decides to review Immature Radioactive Samurai Slugs III (a parody of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Turtles in Time), a film they both agree on. Dizzy claims to have seen the first two movies 200 times. A brief clip from the movie is shown of two of the slugs getting squished by a boot.

Theme Song Lyrics

We're Immature Radioactive Samurai Slugs,

we love to thrash criminals and slice and dice thugs.

We're totally radical gnarly dudes,

cowabunga homeboys with nothing to lose.

Our archenemies want us iodized,

but they can't beat us 'cause we're merchandised.

(Iodizer: "DESTROY THEM!")

Count off! Picasso, Warhol, Rockwell, Grandma Moses!

So kick back, dweebs, it's the end of our rhyme,

the show's gonna start and it's time to slime!
