Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Bad Dream, known as Tiny Toon Adventures: Scary Dreams in the US, is a game boy video game developed by Treasure, published by Swing! Entertainment Media A.G. and released in 2002 in Europe.

In 2005, a North American version of the game began popping up on Ebay and at small retailers, published by Treasure-regular Conspiracy Entertainment as Tiny Toon Adventures: Scary Dreams. Aside from the title screens and legal information, it was virtually unchanged from its European counterpart. According to the information on the box, copies of the game appear to have been produced in 2002 and shelved between then and the time it surfaced.

As of now, this is the last video game of the Tiny Toons franchise.

Story[]

While Buster Bunny is relaxing, reading an issue of Sports Illuminated, he is knocked out by an extendable boxing glove from the magazine. The magazine was a trap set up by Montana Max, who is ready to use his new Acme Dream Ray on Buster to control his dreams. As he zaps Buster, Elmyra Duff chases Buster's friends toward him, who get caught in the ray's blast. When Buster wakes up, he gets a call from Babs Bunny, who tells him that she and his friends are trapped in his dreams. Now Buster has to travel to Montana Max's mansion to find out how to free them.

Gameplay[]

The game is a beat-em-up in which Buster Bunny, with the help of any one of his friends, must destroy all the enemies on-screen before being able to move on, while taking as little damage as they can. You have one life, but you have unlimited continues. However, if you continue, it will take you back to the beginning of the act you are currently in. Press the R trigger at any time and your helper will appear briefly on the screen to use his or her attack. If your helper takes too much damage, you cannot use him or her until the next act. As you move on to the next act, both your health and your helper's health will be fully increased. In addition to punching and using helpers, Buster is also able to perform combos, in the form of a jackhammer or a shopping cart. These moves will require a power bar, which Buster can fill up by destroying as many enemies as he can.

Helpers[]

Before you begin your quest, you will need to choose a helper, as the quest is too dangerous for you to handle alone. If you pick the Question Mark in the middle, a helper will be chosen at random.

  • Babs Bunny - She attacks using a Tennis racket and tennis ball.
  • Plucky Duck - He summons an anvil, which can damage any enemies that fall under it.
  • Hamton J. Pig - He provides food, which can restore Buster's Heath.
  • Dizzy Devil - He stands in place, spinning and knocking away any enemies that come near him. He is also invincible while he is spinning.
  • Shirley the Loon - She can temporarily stop time.
  • Fifi La Fume - She is notably the only character whose move is different depending on the version of the game. In Buster's Bad Dream, she rapidly damages and stuns all enemies on screen with her smell, while in Scary Dreams, she makes herself and Buster temporarily invincible.
  • Li'l Sneezer - His sneezes can briefly stun enemies.

Stages[]

Stage 1: The Forest

The first act of this stage takes place in the forest, where enemies include snakes and panthers. The second act takes place in a cave, and enemies consist of bats, gremlins from the episode "Journey to the Center of Acme Acres", panthers, and falling rocks. The third act takes place in the forest at sunset. The boss of this stage is Elmyra Duff, who is wearing her Cheetah-fur pajamas that she wore in the direct-to-video movie How I Spent My Vacation. Elmyra's basic attacks include scaring cheetah cubs, who you must get out of the way of, and hugging you or your helper if they get too close to her.

The third act takes place on the castle's roof. The boss of this stage is Mr. Hitcher, also from "How I Spent My Vacation", complete with his chainsaw and hockey mask. The boss of this stage is Maximus Flush, also from "The Name Game", who floats above the player in a hovercraft. To get him down, you must knock out the sensor, which will temporarily turn it off and send the hovercraft down.

Stage 4: Montana Max's Factory

The first act takes place in Montana Max's courtyard. Enemies here include Muffin the Dog from the "You Asked for It, Part II" segment "Return of the Toxic Revenger", snakes, and robots.
