Arleen Sorkin

Arleen Sorkin (14 October 1956 - 24 August 2023) was an American actress, screenwriter, presenter, and comedian. She was a writer for Tiny Toon Adventures.

After the show ended, friend and fellow TTA writer Paul Dini was writing for a new series based around Batman, and, inspired by Sorkin's personality and her past in cabaret, incorporated these aspects and more into a new character: Harley Quinn, The Joker's sidekick and lover. Dini convinced Sorkin to audition for the character she inspired, and won the role, playing the role starting with Batman: The Animated Series. In May 2011, she retired from the role and went to live with her husband, a television producer and writer, and their children. She died on 24 August 2023 after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.
